Pathway Overviews

The Appalachian College of Pharmacy offers two PharmD Early Assurance Pathways for high school students interested in pursuing our accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy degree program.

3+3 Early Assurance Pathway – Bachelors + Doctor of Pharmacy

This pathway is an accelerated academic program that allows highly motivated students to earn both a Bachelor’s degree and a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree in just six years instead of the traditional eight. Students will complete their first 3 years of undergraduate coursework at a partner institution, then transition to ACP for the remaining 3 years of the PharmD program.

2+3 Early Assurance Pathway – Associates + Doctor of Pharmacy

This pathway is an accelerated academic program that allows highly motivated students to earn both an Associate’s degree and a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree in just five years instead of the traditional six. Students will complete their first 2 years of community college coursework at a partner institution, then transition to ACP for the remaining 3 years of the PharmD program.

Students who do not qualify for one of our Early Assurance Pathways can pursue the traditional route.

Admission Requirements

  • Submit the PharmD Early Assurance Pathway application prior to April 15, 2027, in the applicant’s senior year of high school. The applicant must be in good academic and disciplinary standing in high school at the time of application and maintain good standing throughout the remainder of the senior year.
  • The application will include:
    • An official high school transcript showing a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better.
    • Two letters of recommendation, one from a math or science teacher who has taught the student, and the other from the high school Advisor/Guidance Counselor, specifically addressing the student’s academic potential in math and science. Letters should be emailed to admissions@acp.edu. Note: ACP does not accept letters of recommendation from friends, family members, clergy, or politicians.
