Angie Mutter serves as the Director of Student Success and Career Planning and is a faculty member for Basic Life Support and Mental Health First Aid.

Dr. Mutter graduated from Virginia Tech in 1988 with a B.A. in Public Relations. In 2018, she received her Master’s in Education from Bluefield College. She completed her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Liberty University in 2022.

Angie was born in Miami, Florida and spent her childhood in Georgia. Several years after completing her degree at Virginia Tech, she married Mark Mutter and moved to Buchanan County in 1991. She began her teaching career at Vansant Elementary. Mrs. Mutter has spent most of her teaching career in the sciences. She was named a National STEM Scholar in 2018 and is an advocate for STEM education.

Angie and Mark have three adult children, an adorable Shih Tzu, Bella, a “grand cat” named Milo, and two beautiful, “grand dogs” named Lady Grey and Obi. Mark, Angie, and her children are all graduates of Virginia Tech. “Go Hokies!”

Her oldest son, Lyle, lives and works in Charlotte. Her son, Wayne, is an optometrist in Montana, and her youngest, Mary, is an Associate Video Game Producer for Obsidian Entertainment.

Angie volunteers at the YMCA as a water aerobics instructor and is an active member of her church and choir.
