Dr. Ghous Khan serves the college as Assistant Professor of Pharmacology. After receiving his bachelor degree in medicine and surgery, he completed a Master ‘s in Medical Pharmacology from Dhaka University. He then moved to Belgium to attend the Flemish University of Brussels to earn a Master’s in Medical and Pharmaceutical Research. He continued his higher studies to complete a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2001. During this time he studied the role brain neurotransmitters in the mechanism of action of antiepileptic drugs in focally-evoked seizures.

Dr. Khan then moved to USA to attend his postdoctoral training at the Hershey Medical Center at Penn State University where he investigated the role of myelinated afferent fibers and capsaicin-sensitive C-fibers in neuropathic- and diabetic neuropathic pain. He continued his postdoctoral training in molecular and cellular neuropharmacology at the School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania where he focused on functional expression of α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in HEK cells. Before joining ACP, Dr. Khan was working as a research associate at Drexel University College of Medicine where he studied beta-amyloid activation of presynaptic α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors reconstituted into a model nerve cell system.

Dr. Khan has published a significant number of scientific papers and conference abstracts. He and his wife Afsana have a son, Tamreen.
