OAKWOOD, VA (JUNE 27, 2025) – Appalachian College of Pharmacy Director of Admissions Jason McGlothlin has been appointed to the 2025-2026 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Admissions Workshop Advisory Committee.
AACP, founded in 1900, is the national organization representing pharmacy education in the United States. Pharmacy is the third largest health profession – after nursing and medicine – with more than 300,000 clinicians practicing in community-based practices, hospitals/health systems and many other healthcare settings.
“We are truly proud that Jason was chosen to serve on this AACP committee,” said ACP Provost and Dean Susan Mayhew. “ACP engagement on committees — particularly at a national level such as this — helps to promote ACP and build a broader networking base for collaboration. I have also encouraged our faculty to seek deeper engagement within our profession’s state and national organizations. We look forward to learning more about Jason’s AACP collaboration as the year progresses and we congratulate him upon his selection to the committee.”
McGlothlin has been part of the Appalachian College of Pharmacy team since May 2011. In addition to his role as director of admissions, he also serves as director of student services and alumni affairs.
“I am extremely honored to be selected as a member of the AACP workshop advisory committee,” McGlothlin said. “When they sent out a call for volunteers to apply, I did so not only because I wanted to help shape the future of AACP workshops, but I also felt it would be beneficial to me as an admissions director and to ACP to learn more about what other colleges of pharmacy are doing to reach potential students and to plan for future programming. Networking with your peers is something I have always found to be beneficial in the past.”
McGlothlin is a Buchanan County, VA native and a 1994 graduate of Council High School. He received his B.A. in Organizational Management from Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA, in 2004; and his MBA from King College in Bristol, TN, in 2008. He began his career in higher education in 2002 where he held the position of senior admissions officer at the Appalachian School of Law.
He resides at Rowe, VA, with his wife, Melissa. He is active in the Buchanan County Chamber of Commerce and serves on its board of directors and also serves as a member of the 29th Judicial Circuit Court-Appointed Special Advocate board and the Buchanan County YMCA board and is the current chairman of the Buchanan County Planning Commission.
The 2025-2026 AACP Admissions Workshop Advisory Committee will focus on the following charges:
- Counsel the association on programming with the goal of providing relevant and high-value content that will enhance the professional development of workshop attendees.
- Develop or refine a programming theme aligning with the AACP Strategic Plan and promoting the professional development and leadership skills of personnel in the areas of admissions, recruitment and student affairs.
- Identity potential speakers and select session abstracts who can provide related expertise.
- Assist in the development of a post-workshop assessment instrument for attendees.
McGlothlin will serve on the committee with representatives from the University of California, San Francisco; the University of South Florida; Chapman University; University of the Incarnate Word; Touro College of Pharmacy-New York; Palm Beach Atlantic University; and the University of Connecticut.
