Melissa Speed serves as the Library Director for the Appalachian College of Pharmacy. Before arriving at ACP, Melissa worked as an instructional librarian at the Georgia branch campus of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, outside of Atlanta, Georgia. She obtained a Master of Science degree in Information Science from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas after being awarded a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Before moving to Georgia, for many years Melissa was an instructional librarian for Tarrant County College in her hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. During her career she has taught pharmacy, medical, nursing, and graduate students how to navigate and search library databases and print resources. Melissa is a senior member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals and has served in a variety of offices in local and regional library associations. Melissa’s hobbies include historical and genealogical research, quilting, traveling, and being an aunt to her four nieces.
