Prema S. Rao

Prema Rao is a Research Associate for the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy. Mrs. Rao is originally from Bangalore, India. She received her Master’s Degree from Bangalore University, India, in 1980. Prior to Joining the Appalachian College of Pharmacy in 2012, she worked as a Researcher at Duke University, University of Nebraska Medical Center and Texas Tech University. Mrs. Rao continues to pursue her research interest in cancer biology at ACP and has several publications in peer-reviewed journals. She enjoys teaching Pharmaceutics Lab I and II to the 1st and 2nd year PharmD students.

Mrs. Rao resides in Southern Gap with her husband Dr. U.S. Rao and their two cats, Simba and Bujji. She has two grown daughters, Aruna, who is a Dentist, and Asha, who is an Ob/Gyn Resident. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
