Throop Pharmacy Museum
The historic Throop Pharmacy Museum gives visitors as well as students a glimpse of pharmacy in the past. The Throop Drug Store was established in 1800 and was run by the Throop family for the next 136 years. The historic store was acquired for ACPHS by the late Dean Mansfield in 1938 as a historical museum. It was moved to the College in its entirety where it was carefully reconstructed.
Visiting the Throop Pharmacy Museum provides an opportunity to visualize the field the way is was more than a century ago. Various prescription and business records kept by meticulous shopkeepers give a glimpse of life long ago in a small rural area of upstate New York.
