The Masters in Pharmacy Administration program prepares individuals to assume leadership positions in the pharmacy industry. The program's curriculum provides instruction in administrative science through courses in economics, finance, organizational theory, total quality management, and project management. Mastery of these disciplines, and others offered in the program, are essential skills for those who hold administrative positions in the pharmacy industry.

The following are requirements for admissions for the Masters of Pharmacy Administration at ACP:

Prospective students for the Masters programs will generally need to have a BS or BA before beginning the Masters program.
Applicants should also have to demonstrate prior knowledge of pharmacy or healthcare administration. This requirement is satisfied through a BS or BA in an appropriate field or through prior professional experience.
Applicants will be expected to have carried a minimum GPA of 3.0 during their undergraduate studies.
Applicants will also be required to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) with an expected minimum score of 1100 on the verbal and quantitative reasoning portions and 3.5 on the essay portion.
A TOEFL score will be required for applicants whose primary language is not English.
Prospective students who meet these requirements may also be required to interview with faculty members from the department that the applicant seeks to join.

The career opportunities for such positions have been grown considerably over the past decade and all indicators point to continued growth. Managed care's emergence as the primary payer of health care over the last 15 years resulted in a number of career opportunities for pharmacists with graduate degrees in the administrative sciences. These opportunities include positions related to drug utilization review, program audit and fiscal integrity, development and management of cost-containment initiatives and the development of clinical decision support tools. With the implementation of the Medicare Part D prescription drug program, there will be an increased need for pharmacists who can manage the effective delivery of pharmaceutical products and services.
