Dr. Casey Whitaker is a PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Resident and an Instructor of Pharmacy Practice at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Whitaker completed his undergraduate studies at Ferrum College in Ferrum, Virginia and Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Virginia. He earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Appalachian College of Pharmacy in 2013. His professional interests include geriatric pharmacy especially Alzheimer’s disease.
Prior to entering pharmacy school, he worked for CVS Pharmacy for 5 years as a pharmacy technician and an intern. While a student at ACP, he was an active member of Rho Chi and Phi Delta Chi. Additionally, he has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
Dr. Whitaker is a native of Rocky Mount, Virginia. His brother Shawn heavily influenced his choice of pharmacy as a career path.
Dr. Emily Rourk is a PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Resident and an Instructor of Pharmacy Practice at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Rourk completed her undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina Honors College and earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the South Carolina College of Pharmacy in 2013.
Dr. Rourk is an active member of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NACP), Phi Lambda Sigma, Rho Chi, the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), and the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP). Her professional interests include independent pharmacy, compounding, development of patient services, disease state management, medication therapy management, pharmacotherapy, academia, and helping her patients live the healthiest lives possible.
In her free time, Dr. Rourk enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, sailing, developing her “foodie” credentials, and being outdoors. Dr. Rourk is a native of Charleston, South Carolina and currently resides in Lebanon, Virginia.
