Office of Research at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy
The mission of the Office of Research at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy is to improve the lives of people in the Central Appalachian region of the United States, which includes portions of Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia. To further this mission, the College encourages and supports its faculty in their research, scholarly pursuits, and publication in the areas of the basic sciences, clinical pharmacy practice, community and population health, and scholarship of education. The ACP faculty is involved in a variety of research projects that includes cancer, diabetes, pharmacy administration, pharmacy practice experience, and healthcare access. The faculty:
- Engages in the scholarship of discovery through research and publication, particularly translational research.
- Participates in scholarly inquiry into the benefits of patient-centered medication therapy management in improving health outcomes.
- Develops research programs focused on evaluating the impact of medication therapy management on cost, quality of healthcare and health outcomes in rural and medically underserved populations and particularly those in Central Appalachia.
- Provides research experiences to students to build foundational skills in research design, implementation, and execution.
The Office of Research is located on the third-floor of McGlothlin Academic Hall.
