W. Roger Powers
Roger Powers is a native of Buchanan County, and a graduate of Grundy High School. He attended the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA, then served two years in the United States Army. He is a member of the Grundy Lions Club, serving in all officer positions. He also served as District Governor 24F District, with a perfect attendance for 40 years.
Roger presently serves as Mayor of Grundy, Virginia. He was a member of the Grundy Town Council for three terms. He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Appalachian School of Law, Treasurer for the Board of Trustees of the Appalachian College of Pharmacy, Administrative Chairman of Grundy United Methodist Church, a member of the Breaks Interstate Park Commission, and a member of the John Flanagan Water Authority.
Roger is the founder and owner of Excello Oil Company, Inc., co-owner and president of Modern Sales and Service, Inc., past president and member of Willowbrook Country Club, all of Grundy. He is also a member of the Olde Farm Country Club, Bristol, Virginia, a life member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, a member of the Mason Lodge in Grundy, and a member of the Shriners of Roanoke, Virginia. He is also a Kentucky Colonel of Louisville, Kentucky.
Roger and his wife Sheilah live in Grundy. They have two daughters and two grand-daughters.
