Research Interests:
Dr. Yilmaz currently works with Dr. William Millington to investigate the anatomy of opioid neurons, the function of opioid peptides, their synthesis and the mechanisms that regulate their synthesis. The ultimate goal is to develop novel treatments for the adverse effects of opiates, particularly in the area of addiction. Dr. Yilmaz also works with Dr. Carlos Feleder on the role of the central nervous system in blood pressure regulation during septic shock. Dr. Yilmaz also has a faculty position at Uludag University Medical College, Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology in Turkey.
