Week 15 (Dec. 13-17, 2004)
The project headed into the final stages of the initial dig this week, with the teeth on the excavator's six-foot bucket beginning to scrape the clay layer on the southern edge of the old ravines that were covered over during the middle of the 20th century. An uncovered 1946 penny gave a clue to the age of the fill being removed to make way for a new, more solid dirt foundation. (Click on individual photos to view an enlarged version.)
