Student pharmacists to provide health information

WHAT:          Members of the ACP chapter of the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) will provide materials and recommendations about heartburn, diabetes and immunizations at two sites in the Capital Region.

The Heartburn Awareness Challenge is a new national patient care project in which student pharmacists provide public education about this common, uncomfortable and potentially dangerous condition. Operation Immunization is an awareness campaign designed to increase the public's knowledge of immunization and raise the number of adults receiving immunizations. Nearly 21 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes. Operation Diabetes is a nationwide campaign developed by APhA-ASP in an effort for student pharmacists to help identify patients with undiagnosed diabetes through screenings and education. November is American Diabetes Month.
